Reason #741

Some days I feel accomplished. Some days, not so much. There are days when I feel proud of myself and days where I feel like I could be doing a lot more. Today was one of those days where I felt slightly accomplished. A day where I felt I was making some progress. And today, I wondered "how do you get there?"

There. You know, that place that seems so far off. It seems like you may never make it... there. Yet other people have made it, how is that? Lucky strokes for certain folks? Were the just in the right place at the right time? Did they work really hard for it? Was it handed to them? Was it because they knew someone?

I have those "there's" that I look forward to. I see people at work, out and about, at church, on Facebook (although you can't believe everything you see on the internet) and they are there. They are at those places I wonder if I'll ever be. In those stages of life, going through certain experiences, accomplishing big things, and I am always curious to know how they got there and if I'll get there, myself.

Well, it takes time to get there... where ever you're wanting to be. And if you asked these people, most of them would say that. It took conversations, circumstances, opportunities, failures, and successes to get there. None of these things happened over night. And, as is the norm, usually none of them happened as planned. But they kept moving forward. They kept pushing through the tough stuff, keeping their eyes on what lies ahead, and they trusted God to get them there. They trusted He would get them down the aisle, they trusted that He would guide their career path. They trusted He'd enter them into parenthood, and the trusted He'd help them through it. They trusted He would meet the desires of their heart, that He would bless their efforts, that His strength would be made perfect in their weakness, and that His will would prevail. They trusted that God would get them there, and if "there" wasn't the best place for them to be that He would redirect their steps down the path He had in mind for them.

There seems really far off some days. In fact, there can seem impossible. But rather than asking God to get us 'there,' maybe we should ask 'where?' Where do you desire me to be, Lord, and how do I get there? Because being there, that place that God has intended just for you, is the best place to be. And when you're there, there's no where else you'd rather be.

#741 - Because, in time, He will get us there...right where we need to be.

"Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live." - Psalm 43:3
