Don’t miss it
I miss taking my girls to Chick-fil-A for lunch playdates.
I miss seeing unmasked faces in public and sharing visible smiles with strangers.
I miss shaking hands and hugging my friends at church each week.
I have missed attending all of the events that were written in anticipation on my calendar this year, many of which included sweet celebrations and traditions.
There are a lot of things I had grown accustomed to and was comfortable with that I now miss.
Truth be told, I really miss the way things used to be.
Do you know what the Israelites missed while wandering through the desert on their way to the Promised Land? They missed Egypt.
They missed the rich meals with choices of food as they snacked on manna day after day.
They missed the comfort of their houses as they pitched tents in a temporary place.
They missed what they knew, and the place they called home. Even if it included slavery, they missed it.
But God was changing things. Centuries of cries had reached his ears and he was answering. But He was rescuing them in a way that totally interrupted their lives.
“Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.” - Habakkuk 1:5
God was doing a new thing, an amazing thing. They had a hard time believing it.
Maybe you can relate.
You know God is working and moving, but you just can’t believe that whatever it is he is doing is amazing. From this vantage point, only seeing a piece of the big picture, it appears to be a mess. It appears things are falling apart and the ship is going down.
But watch.
Be amazed.
God is doing something in our day. Today. He is moving in might and power. And we don’t have to know what he is doing to believe he is working. We just have to possess faith that he is.
Like me, you may find yourself missing a lot of things. But let’s be sure, friends, we don’t miss the amazing things God is doing!
