God will take care of you
“We got these bottles at school today, and I’m supposed to fill it with money for the babies,” she exclaimed as she ran past me into her bedroom. I could hear her crawling on top of her desk and I knew she was retrieving her piggy bank.
The pink, porcelain pig, packed full of coins, jingled as she bounced back into the kitchen and set it on the table next to the empty baby bottle.
“Will you take the bottom off so I can get the coins out?” I dumped the coins on the table and she eagerly began dropping them into the bottle, the pile of coins growing smaller and smaller with each fistful.
I watched, in amazement, curiosity, and conviction, as she transferred over all of her coins. Of course, these were coins that had been given to her out of mine and her daddy’s car consoles, but none the less, they belonged to her even if she hadn’t earned them.
We talked about how the babies could use the money to buy formula and diapers because that’s what babies really need. As the pile of coins continued growing smaller and smaller she began slowing down and said, “I don’t have much money left for my piggy bank now. What will I use when I go to the store? How will I pay for my things?”
“What things do you need at the store?”
“I dunno. Just things. And I won’t be able to buy them because I don’t have enough money.”
I totally understood her thought process and where she was coming from.
“You may not have enough to buy what you need, but you know who does? Your daddy, and he will take care of you and make sure that you have what you need. And because your needs are met, then you can share your money with others so they’ll have what they need, too.”
I don’t know what you need, my friend. Maybe it is provision. Maybe you need peace. Maybe you need help. Maybe you need relief from the burdens that are weighing you down. Maybe you need hope, or healing, or maybe you just need to know you’re loved.
Paul wrote a letter to the church of Philippi thanking them for their financial gift they sent to aid him in his ministry work. They generously gave out of their own personal finances, which was a sacrifice, no doubt, but Paul reminded them, “My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
It all belongs to God. All of it. He holds and possesses everything. Whatever you need, you can find in Him, and the joy of receiving from God is that it comes in abundant supply so whatever you have received, you can then share with those around you who are also in need.
Your Heavenly Father will take care of you, beloved, and He is glad to.
