Reason #849
Sometimes I don't know how to pray. I remember finding comfort when I came to the realization that I could just say the name of "Jesus" and that was more powerful than any words I could come up with. And that was really good because sometimes I felt like there weren't really words to describe how I felt. I couldn't find a way to adequately express my thoughts, my feelings, or my desires and so I would just breathe in and breathe out and I would whisper "Jesus" over and over again.
Jesus is enough.
The name alone says it all. Jesus is enough. In our moments of desperation, of heartache and despair, we cry out to Jesus because He is enough. When our hearts are overwhelmed and our minds are racing, we whisper His name because Jesus is enough. When we're scared senseless, when our words are few, when we can't seem to get a grasp, we call on Jesus because He is enough. Enough to calm or fears, still our hearts, strengthen our spirits, calm our anxieties, and refresh our souls. Jesus is enough.
When life seems to swallow us up, when it threatens to drag us down to the depths, we grab hold of Jesus because He is enough. When the path becomes slippery, when we can't see where we are going, when it's dark and uncomfortable and filled with obstacles, we cling to Jesus because He is enough. And when our fears become our realities, when our dreams are crushed, we hold tight to Jesus because He is enough. Enough to hold us up, to lift us out of the pit, to be our guide, to steady our shaky feet, to give us courage to keep moving forward, and to put the pieces back together. Jesus is enough.
When life pours out its blessings in abundance, we praise Jesus because He is enough. When things are going well, when we find prosperity in all things, we give Jesus all the glory and the credit because He is enough. When our hearts are so full they could burst open with joy, we thank Jesus because He is enough. Enough to meet our deepest needs and desires, to satisfy us completely, to bless us richly, to encourage and spur us on, to redeem our stories, to bring forth new mercies, and to give second chance. Jesus is enough.
And so we need Him. We need Jesus. Because He is enough. Enough in the good times, enough in the bad times, and enough in the normal times. Jesus is always enough because by the name of Jesus, we are saved. By the name of Jesus we are healed, we are redeemed, we are rescued and restored and we are made new. And so if you don't know what to say, if your heart is too overwhelmed in any direction, just say His name because that is enough.
#849 - Because His name is enough in the good times, the bad times, and the normal times.
